Collard Dove

I’ve not managed to attract any songbirds as such to my bird feeder but beggars cant be choosers and so it’s nice to see a pair of Collard Doves come and eat now and then. These birds have proved to be quite a success story in this county having only started to breed in the 1950s, although I read that populations have recently declined due to the parasite finch trichomonosis.

 

It was of course pouring with rain when i took this photo.
