Seals [1]
With so much nature being destroyed over the course of my lifetime it’s heartening to learn of a success story. There are two species of seal in British waters, the Grey and the Common. It wasn’t until 1988 that the first grey seal pup was spotted on Blakeney Point, with only occasional pups born throughout the 1990s, until in 2014 Blakeney Point became the largest grey seal colony in England and now around 4,000 are born each year. The success is believed to be due to low levels of disturbance and mortality during the first few weeks of life, as well as a lack of natural predators.
