Matlock Bath
Matlock Bath is a strange place; you wouldn’t believe you were nowhere near the sea. It was developed as one of the country's first tourist destinations and is sometimes referred to as 'the seaside town without the sea'. It has lots of fish & chip shops, amusements, an aquarium and original Victorian thermal baths, plus numerous other tourist attractions. Its heyday was in Victorian times when it became known as "Little Switzerland" by the poet, Lord Byron. It’s an attractive setting with houses dotted the cliffs behind the town and the River Derwent flowing beside the road.
