From Russia with love
This is a bit more about that pampered puss. Those of you who were kind enough to read my recent offerings on Russia will know how sad I am regarding Ukraine. I've mentioned that when visiting Russia we found most of the people very friendly, but I haven't mentioned that we once looked after a young Russian boy while he was here learning English. He came from a town on the other side of the Ural mountains and was very homesick. I eventually found the secret to making him happy was boiled cabbage!
Anyway, Tommy in my photo is another welcome Russian, a 'Siberian', or to be more precise a Neva Masquerade, a colourpoint version of Siberian cats. The breed originates from St Petersburg, and is named after the river Neva where at the time people used to attend a lot of 'masquerade' parties.
