The Ledge – Bill Woodrow

This white steel sculpture made Folkestone the home to the UK’s largest urban contemporary outdoor art exhibition after the number of permanent artwork in the town reached 45. Bill Woodrow is a British artist and Royal Academician.

"This crystalline modernist architectural composition, echoing the white cliffs beyond, supports figures of an Inuit and a seal, and sits on a black puddle shape. Sited by the shore, the strong horizontals suggest the rising water level resulting from the disappearing polar ice caps, an iceberg melting into a pool of oil. The human figure and its ecological counterpart the seal represent an ancient way of life, standing on thin ice."

I guess all of us in Kent are now on thin Ice. We have today been informed that we are living in a ‘very high risk’ area as regards Covid infections, and will be going into tier 3 restrictions [the highest] as from next Wednesday.
