Folkestone Downs

From St Martin's Plain a view of the Downs that form a barrier preventing Cheriton from expanding westwards. Instead, the village expanded towards Folkestone and it is now just a suburb of that town although it very much has its own identity.

You can just see the spire of Newington church towards the left of the photo. The trees mark the path of the Seabrook Stream, and those overhead power lines you can just about see belong to the high speed train track from the Channel Tunnel to London.
