Clach na Sgoltadh

So, here we are at last. I’ve already posted a photo of these stones here -

Commonly referred to as The Praying Hands, or The Praying Hands of Mary, it certainly predates Christianity, and its older name is Fionn’s Rock, but even older than that its original Gaelic name was Clach na Sgoltadh, stone of the cleaving.

There is much debate as to whether this stone is natural or man-made. The split in the rock must surely be natural, but how it came to stand upright on a flat base is puzzling. It is said that a ley line runs through the stone which fuels speculation as to its mystical significance.

Whatever the truth of the matter, you certainly get spectacular views of Glen Lyon from the stone.
