Budapest's Parliament building
This is a huge building for a relatively small country. In fact it’s the world's third largest Parliament building and took 17 years to build, between 1885 and 1902. But you have to remember that when it was built Hungary was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire that encompassed, amongst others, Slovakians, Romanians, Croatians, and Slovenians.
The building of the Hungarian Parliament is symmetrical, and its structure conforms to the classic two-chamber (bicameral) parliaments with a room for the lower house, and another one for the upper house. Similarly to the American Capitol in Washington, D.C., the northern and southern wings of the building serve the houses (lower and upper) of the legislature.
