Flowerdale
Flowerdale Glen, where Flowerdale house is situated, the seat of the Mackenzies of Gairloch, was originally known as Am Baile Mor, but tourists seeing the profusion of wild flowers in the Glen suggested it should be named Flowerdale.
The glen is sheltered from most winds and so having a microclimate of its own, supporting plants like bog orchids, bog asphodels, butterwort and sundew, although it was too early in the year for them to appear when I took this photo.
