This is looking from the other direction from my previous photo. The building that you can see in the harbour is the former pilot's lookout tower. It was built in 1971 to accommodate Folkestone and Dover pilots, as improved radio communication meant that pilots could reach vessels from shore by speed launches rather than be based at sea. It has not been occupied since Sea Containers withdrew the last ferries from Folkestone in 2000 and was in active use for only 17 years. It was demolished in 2014.
