On the Beach - Folkestone Sunny Sands
Well, puzzle on the beach really. I've always wondered what the purpose of this object on the beach was. Maybe a mooring bollard, but why here in amongst the rocks outside of the harbour? Then I thought it had something to do with WW2 but I've seen a photo of East Cliff Sands, as this beach was once named, taken before 1935 before this 'new ' promenade was built, and you can see the object in the photo then.
At high tides you can only see the top above the waves and I've read that locals call it 'the bomb' but of course it isn't a bomb.
Any ideas?
