All Saints, West Stourmouth

Stourmouth was once on the southern edge of a four mile wide channel to what was the Isle of Thanet, but over the course of the last millennium, the channel became silted up and Thanet is no longer an island. . In AD 885 King Alfred battled with the Danes who had attacked Rochester. He trapped their ships in the channel and there was a battle at Blood Point in which they were defeated.

All Saints Church is reputed to be the second oldest Parish Church in England. The main fabric in the church is Saxon. Alterations were made in the late 12th century. The church was damaged in an earthquake in 1382, and was subsequently rebuilt.
