North Downs Way at Lydden Spout
On a section of the North Downs Way between Folkestone and Dover. The strange concrete wedge is in fact a Sound Mirror. They were designed to detect oncoming enemy aircraft by means of acoustic amplification of the propellers’ drone - Britain built a series of these concrete sound mirrors between 1915 and 1935.
