The Greyhound Inn

This grade ll listed pub sits by the Hawkesbury Junction, where the Coventry and Oxford canals meet. Old boaters refer to this as Sutton Stop, after the stop lock situated here. The stop lock was built to stop the Oxford Canal losing precious water to the then recently-constructed Coventry Canal. The stop lock was the resolution of a dispute that, for a time, saw the two canals running parallel without being linked.
