S1639 - High Moorsley

HISTORY

Pillar completed 18th December 1936 costing £5.8s.9d. Built as a possible primary substitute for PP142, Warden Law but never used as such. Computed as secondary triangulation station NZ42/49 within the Middlesborough block during 1948. Refixed as same in 1984. Levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in 1966. Last maintained by the OS in August 1993.

 

SITE VISIT

Parked SE side of road at NZ337459 in makeshift layby. Followed RoW to NZ339445 then straight line to trig. In overgrown island of weeds in middle of arable field. Pillar in good condition. Spider has replacement OS cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces 50° (NE). Vented through SE sight hole. Near 360° open skyline barring the nearby comms mast and some trees.
