HISTORY

Pillar completed 30th August 1947 costing £5.8s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NZ42/2 within the Middlesborough block during 1948. Refixed as same in 1984. Levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in May 1963. Last maintained by the OS in November 1982.

 

SITE VISIT

Approached from SW. Parked east side of road at NZ430445. Followed mapped RoW network to gate at NZ440454 then SE across access land to trig. Grazing land. Pillar in good condition and a breeding ground for ladybirds. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces WSW, compass reading 253°. All four sight holes open, innards filled with debris. 360° open outlook includes a sea view.
