10804 - North Side

HISTORY

Pillar completed 27th May 1960, cost unknown. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NY71/T34 within the Appleby secondary block during 1961. Flush bracket 10804 was levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards also in 1961. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in July 1983.

 

SITE VISIT

Parked on a grass recess by the RoW at NY587050. The trig column is visible from the parking spot, Direct open access, only bogs to cross. The pillar is in fair condition, part of top surface is lost to frost damage. The spider centre retains an OS centre cap with raised large wide letters. The flush bracket faces SSE. Vented through the right (NE) sight hole. Full 360° outlook to the surrounding hills.
