S6100 - Aberuthven

HISTORY

Pillar completed 20th July 1950, no record of cost. Computed as tertiary station NO02/T1 in January 1951. Flush bracket S6100 was levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in January 1956. The final pre-GPS maintenance by the Ordnance Survey was in July 1991. This marker continued to be maintained by the OS as GPS passive station C1NN9815.

 

SITE VISIT

The pillar was in good condition. Spider centre plugged with white painted brown plaster. The flush bracket faced southeast compass measurement 139°. Vented through front (SE) sight hole, others plugged. Upward views limited to Ben Vorlich (Coire Garbh), Craig Rossie and some smaller Perthshire tops.

SUBSEQUENTLY

This pillar has since been removed by the landowner, reasons unknown. This had happened by March 2015. The pillar was found lying face down in April 2017. The new location is NN_98467_16061.
