G1165 - Kincardine O'Neil

Second Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1936-52).

Flush bracket G1165 was used during the second geodetic levelling of Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 318.970 feet above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Braemar to Banchory levelling line. Geodetic line G.206, levelled during 1946. The surveyor's description was N face, E of NW angle of school, S of church, S side of road.

 

This marker was last verified in 1974. The OS Online Archive gives the description "SW side of road, NE face, NW angle".

 

SITE VISIT

On school building, visible from public road. Saturday visit, access good. The bracket is painted black but otherwise in good condition.
