HISTORY

Pillar completed 18th May 1949 costing £15.6s.8d. Computed as secondary triangulation station SD96/17 within the Skipton block, and levelled to second class precision during 1951. Last maintained by the OS in August 1986.

 

SITE VISIT

Approached from NNE. Parked on public road in Thorpe, SE012616. Followed track up to SE011609 then unmarked beeline route to top. Pillar top badly damaged but spider still has a good grip. Spider centre contains a grey plastic cap, fitted 11/08/2002 by JWR. Flush bracket faces SSE, ~168°. Vented through NW site hole. Full 360° open outlook.
