HISTORY

Pillar completed 25th August 1947 costing £5.3s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NZ42/T19 during 1948. Refixed as same in 1987. Levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in 1965. Last maintained by the OS, 11th June 1986.

 

SITE VISIT

Approached from southwest. Parked midway down back road outside houses at NZ303389. Curtain twitchers seen as I got out of car. Walked public roads to nearest point then direct line to pillar. At SW end of hedgeline. Corner of arable field just outside suburbia. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces southeast, ~130°. Vented through vented through southwest and northwest sight holes. 180° panoramic open skyline centred on southwest.
