Palouse Falls Sunset
I was really inspired to go shoot this location after seeing Ryan Dyars shot of this location. Getting there I noticed two things off the bat. One, was the lack of water flow and the other was how brown it is this time of year. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad I went and witnessed some amazing light and atmosphere, but it’s always surprising to visit an iconic spot for yourself to understand it through your own lens. Another long drive… I am obviously obsessed.
This particular composition was shot specifically for the instagram format (square). It is a blend of 4 exposures. One for the foreground rock, one for the waterfall, one for the rest of the land and lastly, one for the sky. The first three images were shot from the same tripod position (landscape format). The camera was then panned up to capture the sky. After the sky was stitched to the land, it was cropped down to a square format.
