Made nice progress along the north shore of The Netherlands despite heavy wind and rain. Levees are vital as only 50% of the land is exceeding one metre above sea level. Most of the areas below sea level are man-made. Since the late 16th century, large areas (polders) have been reclaimed from the sea, amounting to nearly 17% of the country's current land mass.
Trotz starkem Wind und Regen komme ich an Holland's Nordküste gut voran. Nur 50% des Landes liegen mehr als 1 Meter über Meer. Mittels Dämmen und Pumpen wurden seit dem 16. Jh ca. 17% des ganzen Landes künstlich dem Meer entrissen. Schafherden sind für die Deichpflege bedeutend.
