Natural Grocers holds a special place in the hearts of the people at Pines International. It was nearly 40 years ago when co-founders, Steve Malone and Ron Seibold, met Margaret Isely at the one and only Vitamin Cottage store at the time. The store became Pines' first customer and the first green superfood in the natural food marketplace.
Margaret spent several hours with the two men that day and gave them valuable information on how to introduce Pines' products to other stores. She continued to be a great supporter of Pines before and after her tenure as the National President of the organization that became the Natural Products Association. Margaret was impressed with Pines being packaged in amber glass bottles with special metal caps that allow the company to remove the oxygen from each bottle to prevent the oxidation and devitalization that occurs with plastic containers.
To this day, even with the proliferation of petrochemical plastic containers in the natural foods marketplace, you will usually find at least one item in every product category at Natural Grocers packaged in earth-friendly glass.
