IASI: Manastirea Golia
The Golia Monastery is an important cultural center in Iasi, hosting the Doxology Missionary Cultural Center of the Metropolis of Moldova and Bukovina.
It was named after the great logician Ioan Golia, the first founder in the 16th secular. The ecclesiastical settlement of Goliath presents itself as a typical medieval fortress.
The present church of Vasile Lupu, restored between 1650-1653 and completed in 1660 by his son Stefanita represents a combination of styles, especially Baroque and Byzantine, a construction realized at a time of the late Renaissance in the Romanian Principalities.
The monastery is surrounded by a high wall, provided at the corners with tower towers erected in 1667 and a bell tower rebuilt in 1900. The walls of the enclosure have a height of 9 m and a thickness of over 1 m, with a support belt inside, which he once patrolled.
