Manastirea 'Sfanta Ana' Rohia

St. Ana-Rohia Monastery is an orthodox place of worship located in the "Lăpuş Country", in the southern part of Maramureş County.

St. Ana-Rohia Monastery was founded in 1923. Its founder is Nicholas Gherman, from the village at the foot of the "Dealul Vieiului", a hill on which the monastery is today. The founding priest built the monastery in the name of his daughter, Anuţa, who died at the age of 10 years.

Thus, in 1923, Nicholas Gherman built a church of stone and brick, which had the dimensions: 17,80 m long, 5,70 m wide, 13 m high and a monastic house. In 1926, the monastery was sanctified by Bishop Nicholas Ivan of Cluj.

The place remained at the sheepfold because of hard access to the hill. From 1965 to 1970, when the electric current was introduced, they built: "The Oak House" (1965), "The House of State" (1969-1970), "The Chapel House" (1973-1976) - the library , one of the largest treasures in the area whose founder is PS Justinian, The Poet's House (1978-1980), The Summer Shrine (1983), The Maramurean Gate (1988), The White House (1989-1992), The Museum.

In 1996, the old church was demolished, and a new church was built in its place by engineers Alexandru and Gelu Zaharia, under the plans of architect Dorel Cordos. The arched church is in the form of a cross with a brâncovenesc porch in front and a single dome tower containing Moldavian elements. It has a height of 48 m at the base and a length of 22 m, and in the basement there is the catacomb chapel. In 2001, a gateway to the village was built and a church and a wooden house were raised.
