The Monument of the Romanian Soldier, located in the "Campul Tineretului" park in Baia Mare, was erected at the initiative of the Culture and Art Committee of the Maramures Region and was unveiled around August 23, 1959, and the following year received the current form. It was executed by sculptor Andrei Ostap, in collaboration with the architect A. Damboianu and mounted by a team of artists from the Bucharest Plastic Fund. It is made of stone and cement, having the highest part of 8,90 meters. Battle scenes and reconstruction are done in mepla's technique.

In honor of the heroes fallen in debt in these wrestling battles during the Second World War, memorial crosses with the names of those who gave their lives for the integrity and freedom of the Romanian state were arranged around this objective.
