Desesti: Biserica de lemn “Cuvioasa Paraschiva” UNESCO

The church was dated in the middle of the XVIIIth secular.

Initially, it belonged to the Greek-Catholic cult, then to the Orthodox cult since 1948.

According to the specialists, the Deseşti church was built a decade before the painting of the interior painting (parietal and the iconostasis), admirably preserved, and it is a 18th century post-Byzantine mural example of Maramureş.

The painters of the church were Radu Munteanu and Gheorghe together with Alexandru Ponehalschi (a Polish painter at the beginning, with a first work recorded in 1751: the icon of the Virgin Mary and the Child from the Bârsana Monastery).
