Harnicesti: Biserica de lemn Naşterea Maicii Domnului

The wooden church, built in 1770 on the ruins of an old monastery, is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. It has an architecture that has undergone many changes over time to the appearance it has at present.

The plan is rectangular, the undecorated apse, which makes the eastern part end in a beveled, polygonal shape with five sides. The church is provided with a square tile on the south wall where the entrance is.

The two-foot roof on a slope quickly measures ten feet high while the tower is only nine feet long, too little for church proportions, which makes specialists say it was taller one at a time.

With regard to the exterior decoration, the sculpted gauze surrounding the church and the beautiful consoles on which the crown is worn are noticed.

From the interior decoration the church possesses some valuable icons. Three of them, "Entrance to Jerusalem", "Ascension of the Lord to Heaven" and "Annunciation" were presented in various countries on the occasion of international exhibitions
