Cornesti: Biserica ortodoxa "Sf Nicolae" (1615).

The wooden church “Sf. Nicolae” in Corneşti, Maramures, is one of the oldest and most remarkable churches in historical Maramureş and Transylvania. The structure of the church dates to 1615 and the altar is one century older. The interior space preserves the character of an ordinary church, while on the outside are two roofs, a feature so characteristic of the Maramures wooden churches.

Indoor mural painting is signed by painter Toader Hodor from Viseu de Mijloc approximatively at the beginning of the 19th century.

The ship has a rectangular shape and the apse is polygonal, cracked. The shingle roof has a double lap. The mural painting is done on the cloth glued to the wooden wall. Although interior painting is quite degraded, scenes and characters that can still be observed impress strongly proving the real talent of the painter
