Oradea: Fosta Casa de pastrare si economii

The House of Preservation and Savings is an eclectic building with a multitude of neo-Renaissance decorative elements. It was originally used as a home. Since 1861 it was used as a banking unit, being the oldest and most important bank until the First World War. The main body of the building, the one facing the Unirii Square, was built in 1890 according to the plans of the local architect Rimanóczy Kálmán senior. It is a symmetrical and beautifully proportioned building, decorated in sgraffito with biomorphic elements.
