Logging Postcard

Third from left is Luella Kloster Nystrom.
This photo was taken most likely somehwere along today's 2120 line as that was the area that Camp 9 logged when Luella worked in the camp cookhouse (see previous pictures).
This may be a family picture as several men in this picture occur in multiple pictures from this collection.
Note the railroad grade underneath the log. The split cables at the top suggest that they are suspended from a hayboom loading rig. It was a rectangular log construction allowing logs to be loaded easily onto rail cars. Each of the top pulleys would be attached to one side of the rig, allowing the operator of the donkey engine to load the logs in a level, safe manner (with practice).
