With its bill having an overall black appearance as well as a fresh juvie scalloped mantle, this is a "fresher than typical " look for species, than that which i would normally come across up here
Usually a pink or orange coloration towards base of bill is more apparent
Some California Gulls can also be very dark at this time of the year... and this individual , had us going for a while
