sunset over the valley... or sea
Viewed from above, the extraordinary San Luis Valley of southern Colorado, up to 75 miles wide in places, can sometimes take on the appearance of a large body of water, such as a vast lake or sea, especially if the weather conditions limit visibility. Some of the pictures I take of this extraordinary valley even autotag as "seaside" or "seashore!" There’s some irony in this, because the valley actually has a high desert climate, receiving very little precipitation. This wide angle image, taken from the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, shows the silhouette of the San Juan Range in the distance, beneath an unusually beautiful sunset!
Thank you all very much for your visits, faves and kind comments!!
