PRS_027 Robe structurée, Jun Takahashi - Undercover, 2017-2018

This design is a composite creation based on a fantastical rein- terpretation of Renaissance attire. Its short length, typical of the period's menswear, is adapted for a women's garment. The shape, cinched at the waist and puffing out above the knee, evokes the sayons or cassocks worn in the Hunts of Maximilian tapestry series. The unusual tubular folds are reminiscent of the ruffs that adorned Late Renaissance collars. The upper bodice resembles a men's doublet, which was worn over a shirt, with the addition of a highly feminine short train.
