PRS_066 Collection Croisière, Allessandro Michele - Gucci, 2017

Double-breasted floral jacquard coat and plaid jogging trousers.

The rivers of flowers and bouquets on this coat are a reference to French upholstery fabrics and decorative features from the 18th century. More commonly found in women's spaces, these textiles adorned walls, chairs and armchairs. Designs from these fabrics were sometimes reproduced on items of furniture associated with women's activities, such as the chiffonnière, a table used for needlework. By using this material for a men's garment, Alessandro Michele continues his quest for a new kind of masculinity.
