PRS_016 Robe froncée en taffetas de soie et métal, Charles de Vilmorin, 2024-2025

Charles de Vilmorin, Paris

With this piece, Charles de Vilmorin explores white mono- chromy similar to Gothic ivory sculptures which, though they were originally gilded or painted, here vibrate with whiteness.

The dress fabric is purposefully crinkled and crimped at the waist and wrists. Light plays over the fabric, creating a disordered, even sharp pattern, reminiscent of deeply creased drapery such as that seen in the Descent from the Cross sculpture group.
