PRS_058 Robe, Erdem Moralıoğlu, 2024

Inspired by the eccentric figure of Deborah Mitford, Duchess of Devonshire, who passed away in 2014, as well as Chatsworth House, her incredible family estate, this tulle dress evokes the silhouettes of both the 1940s and 1950s and the floral ornamentation that abounds in European decorative art from the 17th and 18th centuries. Erdem drew inspiration from the family's archives and collections, and this floral dress, which features embroidery by Deborah of Devonshire's great-grand-daughter, is even made from an 1860s curtain which the duchess insalled in the 1940s.

Dress, deconstructed toile, hand-draped, featuring scraps of chintz curtains from Chatsworth House belonging to the late dowager Duchess of Devonshire, hand-embroidered by Cecily Lasnet, her great-granddaughter.
