UNICEF Timor Leste
Highest stunting rates in region
Timor-Leste has one of the highest stunting rates in the Asia Pacific region with 1 in every 2 children under the age of 5 being stunted. Stunting is a condition where children are too short for their age compared to standards caused by long-term insufficient nutrient intake and frequent infections. It often goes unnoticed because being short is seen as “normal”.
