[Explored] - Dallas Fire and Ice Sunset

I’ve noticed recently that I don’t have many good pictures of my hometown of Dallas. I guess it’s easy, maybe even human nature, to dream of visiting and photographing faraway places while ignoring what’s right in our backyards.

Although not literally in my back yard, the shot here of the Dallas skyline reflected off the Trinity River after a storm at sunset is one I’ve been envisioning and waiting for. The height of the Trinity River can vary by maybe 50 feet from almost bridge level, when Dallas was flooding earlier this spring, to just barely a creek during the dry summer. This is medium height after about 10 days of solid rain, which was good enough to get some decent sized ponds for reflections. During flood levels the water would be another 20 feet higher and the trees in the distance would be mostly covered!

After waiting a few months for the right conditions and hoping for a good sunset, the bright fiery orange sunset sure did not disappoint :)
