I used opacity and i used the magic wand on the light bulb.

 

and I used the type tool to write the word and the definition.

 

i think the images i used represent the word cognition because of the when the word cognition comes to mind the word intelligence comes to mind and the first image that pops into my head is a light bulb. i chose the puzzle pieces because it takes concentration and awareness to do a puzzle.
