The Empire Diner
In the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City, the stainless steel Empire Diner was built by a dining car company in the 1940s. In 2018 Brazilian Eduardo Kobra painted the mural on the wall above it, depicting a "Mount Rushmore" of modern artists: Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Because of Covid, as with many restaurants in NYC, the diner's capacity has been at least doubled by outdoor seating.
