Relavent?
When teaching in any content area, it is necessary to make material and topics relevant to students. This is one thing that we can continue to discuss in our book club as we approach 21st century learning skills and inquiry-based learning. In some ways historical reading and writing can definitely support higher level thinking that involves 21st century skills, however not all of them. Making the problems of the past relevant to problems of the "now" is needed to bump the thinking into 21st century mode.
