Fitzroy River Erosion
Devonian limestone derived from an ancient coral reef scoured out by the massive water flows of wet season rains from the Fitzroy River catchment. The Geike Gorge cliffs rise over 30 metres above the water surface. The erosion gouges up to several metres into the cliff in beautiful but random ways.
