When we bought these servers, Jonathan Howard offered his thoughts about the memory:
"Running down memory (motherboard holds up to 128GB) options, however it’s DDR2 ECC (800 max), it supports 1/2/4/8GB modules, however sometimes DDR2 ECC can be a little pricey. Getting to 16 or 32 is easy (more than enough for an amazing file server, however if we want to do virtualization we should be looking at 64GB+. We'll likely want to stay at 64GB max (128GB would be 16x8GB modules, and that ’ s a big chunk of coin). "
