Rareza.

Era la primera vez que veía una situación como la que muestro, un macho posado en una caña a un palmo del suelo y otro del mismo género pero distinta especie encima de él. Aguantaron el tiempo suficiente para hacer varios disparos; distinguía claramente que el macho agarrado a la percha era un Orthetrum brunneum aunque con una mancha al final del abdomen “tipo cancellatum” y el de arriba un macho de Orthetrum coerulescens.

Allí mismo me acordé que no hacía muchas semanas le había comentado una imagen parecida a Vicente Camacho por lo inusual de la escena y es que se trataba, también en la suya de dos machos de las mismas especies.

No, no tengo explicación para lo fotografiado.

It was the first time I saw a situation like the one I show, a male perched on a reed a hand's breadth from the ground and another of the same genus but different species on top of him. They held out long enough to fire several shots; I could clearly see that the male clinging to the perch was an Orthetrum brunneum, although with a “cancellatum-type” spot at the end of the abdomen, and the one on top was a male of Orthetrum coerulescens.

Right there I remembered that not many weeks ago I had mentioned a similar image to Vicente Camacho because of the unusual nature of the scene and that it also involved two males of the same species.

No, I have no explanation for what was photographed.
