El género Calopteryx es, entre los Odonatos, el único en el que el macho captura a la hembra con su consentimiento, los demás lo hacen a la "fuerza".
El macho hará un cortejo consistente en acrobáticas posturas en vuelo mostrando el captáforo y la hembra si lo cree adecuado adoptará una pose concreta de aceptación, tras lo cual el macho la cogerá y llevarán a cabo el apareamiento.

The genus Calopteryx is, among the Odonatos, the only one in which the male captures the female with his consent, the others do it to the "force".
The male will make a courtship consisting of acrobatic postures in flight showing the catfish and the female if it believes it will adopt a concrete pose of acceptance, after which the male will take it and carry out the mating.
