Wanaka Madness
Early birds at the Wanaka Tree.
Like me a japanese photographer next to me stopped photographing just to watch the crowd, who ruined the compositions of the Wanaka tree we considered to take.
The crowd emptied out after the early, beautiful light was gone and left us with nearly no pictures.
I met the Japanese photographer again next morning at dawn. We enjoyed the whispering of the water, the soft wind and the stunning colors of a fall landscape.
Yesterdays crowded beach in mind, we treasured the luxury of solitude, the peaceful and the magical atmosphere of a Wanaka sunrise on a deserted lake front.

Frühaufsteher am Strand von Wanaka.
Wie ich, hörte eine japanische Fotografin neben mir auf zu fotografieren und sah zu, wie eine Buslandung von etwa 50 Fotografen vor unsere Linsen liefen und die Bilder, die wir von Wanaka Tree im Kopf hatten, unmöglich machten. Nachdem das Licht der Morgenddämmerung und des Sonnenaufgangs ins Tageslicht überging, leerte sich der Stand schlagartig und ließ uns fast ohne Bilder zurück.
Am nächsten Morgen traf ich die Japanerin zur Dämmerungszeit wieder. Und diesmal konnten wir den Luxus von Einsamkeit und die magischen Momente eines Sonnenaufgangs am Wanaka Tree in vollen Zügen genießen und unsere Bilder machen.
