F/Lt D.E.Turner of No 238 Squadron was shot down and killed in his Hurricane I (P3823) by Bf 109's on the 8th of August 1940 at 12:45hrs South of the Isle of Wight.

 

 

Flight Lieutenant Donald E Turner, born in Port Stanley, F.I. on the 31st July 1910.His family moved to England in 1920. He joined the RAF in 1932. A Hurricane pilot, he was posted to 238 squadron in July 1940. On the 20th july 1940 he shot down a me110 and shared shooting down a me109 on the 21st.He was shot down and reported missing on the 8th of August 1940.
