I noticed this memorial whilst taking the dog for a walk earlier today. Its located on the footpath of Owen St/Mitchum Rd Vermont, Melbourne. Being curious I took a photo, to see what I could discover about this Gunner.
VX57853 Gunner Owen Spencer Loftus 1909-1942 was a member of the A.I.F 2/1 Heavy Bty Royal Australian Artillery. He died of Wounds in Indonesia on the 17 April 1942 aged 33. He was the son of Ardian St Mungo Loftus died 1923 and Edith Beatrice Loftus (nee Blackburne). Husband to Jean Rebecca Loftus of Broadford Victoria Australia. Buried at Ambon War Cemetery.
